OH NO! This is Tragic!

While reading the new blog posts of the day, my second read was Jennifer Juniper's Hope Studios blog post titled "Homeless American Girl Doll" (about the new American Girl - Gwen).  I wanted to know more about Gwen as Jennifer's post peaked my interest. I bopped over to the American Girl Doll official website and didn't get any further than the front page. My heart sunk. They are "archiving" Kirsten.  We all know what that means.  This makes me so sad. It's like a piece of me is being buried.  Why are they saying goodbye to Kirsten?  She's beautiful, she's popular.  Is it because she is not a modern girl like Gwen with a modern story?

Of course I own Kirsten, and she has been on display in my bedroom for a very long time.  I wish I had kept her in the box to preserve her, now that she is going to be a collectors item.   I just tried to see if I could purchase her and she is sold out.  Maybe some day they will bring Kirsten back.

Every one was buying disney videos when they were first being sold because they were a collectors item. Yeah right!! Now the have them all on DVD. Next.... blue ray... and next?? There will be something else.

Coins seem to be an item that holds value for collectors. Other than that??? I would not try to buy an item thinking it would make more money at a later date. Not a wise investment. Might as well throw the $$ away in the stock market.

You are and have an original. Hang on Kirsten, it's not time to retire you yet.

I never got into these dolls / their stories, but I'm glad you have your favorite. It's your very own regardless of if it becomes a collectors item!

WHAT????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's so lame!!!!! As I mentioned before I have Kirsten, and ALL of her stuff!!! :( that makes me so sad, she will always and forever be my uttermost favorite American Girl!!! I've always prefered historical characters to modern ones!

A homeless American girl is taking her place?

I mean...

REALLY?!

Sigh...what is the world coming to!!!

My daughter who is almost 12 would happily take an invitation to tea at AGP. I figure that the thing is, it's not about how old you are but if you would go and have fun with friends. That is what I would tell my daughter if the question came up.
