Stop the Beeping!

Let me just start off by saying, I live in an apartment complex and I love my beauty sleep. I go to bed anywhere between 8:30pm and 9:00pm and get up when my alarm goes off at 5:30am.

At 4:50am I hear a beep and I choose to ignore it hoping it just goes away. beep.....beep.....beep. I can't make the beep go away in my head, all along thinking it's the resident's upstairs alarm clock going off. The man upstairs usually leaves early in the morning, but I continue to hear the beep, it's not going away - make it stop I want to go back to sleep, I have a whole half hour left!!

OMG it stopped, thank god. Ok, now go to sleep. Beep.......beep........beep...... WTF!! I throw the blankets off me and get out bed. I start walking around my house chanting to myself, what the hell, trying to figure out where the beep is coming from. I check my cell phone - no dead battery. I listen, is it coming from outside - NO. Is it a fire alarm battery gone bad - NO. I check my daughter's room for noise - nothing. I check my husband's room (DO NOT ASK, I know what your thinking, this is a whole other story) for noise - nothing but his snoring. I go back in my room - it's coming from in there, it's where the beeping is the loudest. I unplug my alarm clock, thought maybe MY alarm clock shit the bed - NO, the beeping is still there. But I am closer. It's the loudest near my alarm clock. I am on my hands and knees checking everything near that area. I stand up and I still hear it - GOD make it STOP! I put my ear up to the wall behind my bed - THERE IT IS! THE FREAKIN BEEP! IN SOMEONE ELSE'S APARTMENT or somewhere that I have no control of stopping it. It's 5:05am what the hell am I suppose to do now - go back to bed?!?!?! I just get my work clothes and head for the shower where I am hoping the hot water will remove the beeping in my head.

I head out for work leaving a note for my husband "Good Morning, can you please get the maintenance man to come and fix the obnoxious beeping in my room. I think it's coming from the apartment next door". All day I am hoping that this was fixed. At 11:53 I receive a text from hubby:

Hubby: "Hi Mom"
Me: "Hello - what's up with the beep in my room?"
Hubby: All fixed
Me: "Oh good, was it in the other apt?"
Hubby: "No the maintenance man thinks it was in the fire detection gizmo panel" (what, he doesn't know, he fixed the damn thing didn't he??)
Me: "Yes, I believe that that is what I heard when I put my ear up to the wall behind my bed. Freakin' thing"
Hubby: "Why didn't you sleep on the couch or wake me?"
Me: "I debated whether to wake you, but what the hell for? So you can listen to the beep too?"
Hubby: "No, u sleep in my room and I sleep on the couch?"
Me: "No, I didn't want to disturb you."
Hubby: "Bad decision, wake me next time. It's not like I can't take a nap later. (Again, another story for later)

So the beep is fixed...Phew!! I wrote about it because I now find it humorous, during the ordeal I wasn't pleased.

My husband sets his alarm clock to get up early and of course when it goes off I hear it. I get so annoyed when he decides to sleep in and go to work later and then I can't get back to sleep.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I would be so annoyed, but of course, looking back over the situation I can see the humor.

Popping in from SITS to say Hi!

I'd love to be able to sleep for that long. My toddler and my preschooler are categorically opposed to such behavior. They are my annoying (but wonderful) beeping sound!

Ha I am such a lite sleeper, but I have a fire pager to keep me out late at night or medical aid calls that wake me when the oldest people in town decide that it is time to have someone look at their bleeding ____ (you can pick any orifice and fill that in).
When I travel, I absolutely get ZERO sleep due to new noises, and nobody to snuggle with. I am enjoyable after three days of that...

LOL

I know that I'll never forget the time that our fire alarms kept going off in the middle of the night in a townhouse that we were living in when we lived in Nashville.

Once the ladies were in the office we called them to let them know what was going on. We couldn't just take the batteries out because these fire alarms were the ones that were hard wired to the house. The men came over to look at it just to find out that a spider had made it's web around the sensor. Removed the spider and all was well.

That reminds me of when I used to live in a 4 family apartment building and the downstair neighbors called the landlord to complain about me because I did not turn off my alarm fast enough for them!!!

LOL!!!!!! I mean, at the time it happened I'd have been mad enough to kill someone, but it's too funny to read about :D My hubby has 3!!! alarm clocks set for each morning and I feel like murdering him each time they go off screeching! Haha.
