Twelve Rules for a Happy Marriage

This is my favorite article written by Ann Landers back in 1992.  It was in the local Rhode Island newspaper, I believe it is published by Ann every Valentines day, but anyway I cut it out and posted it on my refridgerator and it was there for a very long time - until we moved. It got lost in the shuffle and packed away or even thrown away if my hubby had anything to do with it.  He is NOT a pack rat like me.

I think these are greatest rules to live by and want to share them with all of my bloggy friends.  Enjoy!

  1. Never both be angry at once
  2. Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire
  3. Yield to the wishes of the other as an exercise in self-discipline if you can't think of a better reason
  4. If you have a choice of making yourself or your mate look good, choose your mate
  5. If you feel you must criticize, do so lovingly
  6. Never bring up a mistake of the past.  Your silence will be greatly appreciated
  7. Neglect the whole world rather than each other
  8. Never let the day end without saying one complimentary thing to your life's partner
  9. Never meet without an affectionate greeting
  10. When you've said or done something hurtful, acknowledge it and ask for forgiveness
  11. Remember it takes two to get an argument going.  Invariably the one who is wrong is the one who will be doing the most talking - (my personal favorite)
  12. Never go to bed mad

I love that list of Ann Landers! She keeps it simple and to the point. Thanks for posting it as I recall seeing it before and have since lost it as well. Well, misplaced it actually; I'm sure I'll find it someday........

Have a fab Tuesday!

This is a great list! As soon as I get my computer and printer talking again (gee I wish this list applied to them too) I'm going to print it out.

Oh! I LOVE this!! This is just the things that I post on my blog! How strange. I collect all sorts of stuff like this, but I love the child in me, so I love the childish things that I find! I'll definitely print out this one!

Interesting post,

The platform you base your marriage on is very important. If it is based on love you have less to do otherwise if it is for convenience you really have a lot to do. It is logic to find fun in marriage if it is driven by love.
